Super Punchy Face

Super Punchy Face is a roguelite beat 'em up where every single thing is a weapon. Choose from dozens of techniques to create your unique fighting style, save your uncle's dojo from getting demolished, and smash your way to the Landlord’s mansion to give him a piece of your mind.

Put your creativity to the test in the frenetic, sandbox combat. Do whatever it takes to win against equally capable opponents, in levels that are different every time. Between each fight, choose from a random selection of techniques to perfect your style. You’ll be breaking everything you touch, either by hitting someone with it or by hitting it with someone.

New Features

  • New hp bar colors for enemies! Now you can tell when someone is going to get back up based on their hp bar color.
  • Made a lil sprite for catching thrown items ;)

Balance Changes

  • ITEMS NOW RESPAWN AFTER YOU GET KO'D! Huuge change, will definitely make it more possible to succeed once you and all the enemies get back up..
  • Enemies won't throw things at you from off screen
  • Minimum knockback when running into enemies, so its less janky
  • Rolling Octopus now catches thrown items when dodging
  • Thrown items don't bounce as hard off people anymore
  • Shrunk enemy attack hitboxes by 25% (needs more testing!)
  • Pin is now automatic instead of requiring player input, also got rid of the old art for a fresher placeholder sprite
  • Tried to make the tech-unlock system easier to understand

Bug Fixes

  • You can consistently block thrown items now 
  • Tech menus, end screen and pause screen now accurately reflect what level you're on
  • Attacks were secretly using stamina D:
  • The music should now stop after you win the game instead of playing two songs at once when the dojo loads
  • Ok, I may or may not have fixed the late game lag that some people are experiencing. If the game lagged for you before, try it out now!! And PLEASE let me know if the problem is fixed or not for you.
  • No more crashes when a weapon bounces back at you
  • Hopefully fixed a crash in the tutorial where Jaygo's arm didn't know where to go

Level Design UI Graphics
You should improve the bars that respond for stanima and health (And also would like that there would be an graphic or text that says that "Hey this task bar responds for health" or something like that). Also would like to controls to be represented somewhere (like in the lower right conner be like "Kick = Shift or something"), because i immideatly forgot how you kick.

Controls
This looks like a potentially great game but in my opinion the controls ruin everything. I absolutely hate that you have to use the mouse in order to change the direction you face and to punch and block. It feels so awkward. Plus you also have to use space and shift. I don't understand why you would make us use controls that are all so far apart. Which hand am I supposed to use for which keys and buttons? You seriously need to plan the controls a lot more carefully If you ask me.

But it doesn't actually look like anyone else has a problem with it so I don't know. Maybe I'm just not the type of person who likes or understand these key combinations

Yeah, these controls are ripped from fps games so if you're not used to them it's probably really weird. If you have a gamepad of any kind I would recommend trying that out. You can also customize the control scheme by going to the bulletin board. But I could probably come up with a way to drop mouse controls entirely...

Hey. I just played your game. I love it. I love animations and arts. However, I had some issues. When I pressed shift too many times, the game crashed. Also, It told me to use controller buttons in tutorials sometimes. I did not connect any controllers at that moment. I recorded how I played your game on the video. You can check it below. Animation Story/Writing/Dialogue
I think the art style and animations are what I find most attractive about this game. Although weapons are simple and limited the animations are very satisfying. I think if you added a whole bunch of different punches or karate kicks that would improve the replayability, not that it's much of an issue anyway. This really reminds me of the Binding of Isaac which is a good thing, it has a similar combat system and satisfaction when completing levels. Overall a very good game and quite well polished!

Thank you so much!!! I'm glad you enjoyed it even in this fairly early stage. That Isaac comparison is high praise in my book. We do intend to add more types of attack animations, not mention dozens more weapons, so its good to hear the few we have now are satisfying.
Could you tell me a bit about what you dont like about the story/writing/dialogue? Definitely looking to improve on that too!
