Phantasy Star... 20 Years Past

by

Somewhere, far in the depths of space shine a bright star. And the light

of it is so beautiful, that life itself is attracted toward it. And life is glad of such an attraction, unaware of what mystery is hiding by warmth of the star.

Solar system Algol exist for many thousands of years. Inhabitants of its planets had conquered the space, science and magic developed hand-in-hand.

But every thousand years unknown evil is trying to destroy this order.

Most terrible event became the destruction of planet Palma. Many was able to survive, but for unknown reasons before flight space ships that were prepared beforehand started to explode one-by-one. That event marked the beginning of Algol's world evil's awakening.

Tragedy had set back the development and culture by hundreds of years. History fallen into the void. Technologies was forgotten. And evil took advantage of that. But the triumph didn't last for long. Chosen heroes weakened and sealed Darkness, returning with that peace to the Algol system.

But for how long will it last...

I am concerned about the font problem. I tried to fix it, and updated the game today. I hope everything is okay now?

Game Graphics UI Graphics
Intro text scrolls a bit too quick. (non-native speaker but usually fluent reader writing this)

No text shows up in the dialogue text boxes. No dialogue visbile, despite using setup with installer. But text for stats and most of UI shows up: Battle result text shows up, treasurebox does not show up. The screen after the first... mini-boss 'Planet Motavia.' also shows text.

I further think the gameflow (battle, level changes) was as expected (that's good).

Music, sound and graphics are really good. Because of the text issue in the dialogues I cannot say anythink about conversation, dialogues or story (asides the background story).

Sometimes the graphics became unstable in the mid of the screen when walking on the map outside the city. (Windows 7, 64bit, GeForce GTX 770)

O suggest you add a mini map, since you can easily get lost on the map. And that put together with the random-enemies it can get a bit on ones nerves.
The mainmenu only contains a 'save' entry but no 'load' entry. The 'save' entry is for load and save so I suggest naming it that way. That's imo more easy for new people to undestand.

So far my first impressions after playing half an hour. I did not know about Phantasy Star before, so it is the oppinion of someone who could be attracted to that game and series.

Alltogether you already did a good job. Please continue!

Thank you for your feedback! This is bad news for me.

Installed the new version with installer again today.
The text in the dialogue boxes is now showing up properly. The bugfix worked for me.

I noticed that the healing spells (Tech: [Asia]: Res: 3) is not reduced after each use. It always stays at 3.

Oh wow, a game called "Phantasy Star... 20 Years Past". I'm surprised you didn't go with "Fantasy Star... 20 Years Too Late" instead. And what's with this cheesy description? "Somewhere, far in the depths of space shine a bright star. And the light of it is so beautiful, that life itself is attracted toward it." Ugh, sounds like something a lovesick teenager would write. And let me guess, the chosen heroes are a bunch of generic anime characters with spiky hair and oversized swords? Please, spare me the cringe.
(This is just a roast, I'm sorry for any offence)
