Jumper Jape is a skill-based hardcore platformer game. The game is about getting from one side of the screen to the other without dying. This might sound easy enough but a single touch from a spike will instantly kill you and send you back to the start of the level.

All levels consists of a single static screen filled with hazards. If you think you have what it takes, give it your best shot. This game is not to be considered easy.

The story is told with the help of signs placed in the levels and it progresses as you complete levels and get further. Its a bit vague and has a really creepy vibe to it. If you dont care about stories and just want to focus on gameplay you are free to do so in this game.

Game Graphics Tutorial/Learning Curve
I didn't have a lot of time to sit down and play this tonight but what I did play I really enjoyed.

I made it up to lesson 9, and I have to say the mechanics and the look of the game are excellent. You have a really nice Super Mario Bros 3 thing going on without being too deliberately retro. I also think the pacing of your tutorial sections is excellent, there is some real clever obstacle placement to force the player to perform the action you want.

Minor feedback, I think you should make the controls clearer at the beginning. Maybe have them appear in the game world as you need to perform certain actions. Especially the key needed to read the signs.

I'll have to revisit this later, but I liked what I saw.

Mechanics Tutorial/Learning Curve
Honestly really struggled to find anything to suggest working on. It's probably a bit hardcore for my abilities, but the feel of the jumping and momentum is very satisfying and speed of re-spawn is spot on to give it that one-more-go quality. As luciddreamparty mentioned, it might help to point out the main controls but otherwise I didn't struggle to pick anything up.

I loved the cryptic way the sign-posts hinted at what you had to do rather than telling you outright and the puzzle-solving elements with the green cream were a lot of fun. I got stuck in the Garden level as I'm still rubbish at timing my double-jumps but will be coming back to it again when I have some spare time.

Definitely on to a winner here I feel!

The text should be sharp, try using textmeshpro.
Maybe consider some clouds background for the sky, and gradientish ground fade.
Overall the pixelart feels too small.

The mechanics feel pretty good, but I think the jump could use a tiny bit of tweaking to REALLY make it great.

I tried to play the Linux version (x86_64) on Xubuntu 17.04, but the controls did not work. The game starts up ok, but apparently it sees every key press only once. I can jump once, move right once and open the menu with esc key only once, after that nothing works.
